Sport
School Sport
Years 7 & 8
Student in Years 7 to 10 all students participate in grade sport every Tuesday afternoon. Marrickville is a member of the Bligh Zone and competition is held between local schools. Sports include: volleyball, basketball, cricket, oz-tag, soccer, netball, softball and tennis.

Gala Days
Year 7 and 8 students participate in Gala Days throughout the year. MHS hosts inter-school Gala Days on-site and students travel off-site to other schools or sporting grounds. These days are structured around participation for all- regardless of ability.
Integrated Sport
In Years 9 and 10 students have one afternoon of integrated sport each week. Students opt to stay at school, or can travel off-site to participate in a variety of physical activities. Sports that make up the integrated sport program include: tennis, dancing, gym, gymnastics, parkour and rock climbing.
CHS Knockout Competition
Marrickville High School also enters a number of teams in the CHS Knockout Competition. Students trial for selection in school representative teams and travel off-site for competition. Teams entered into the Knockout competition include:
- Girls: Touch, Netball, Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball.
- Boys: Rugby League, Touch, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball.
School Carnivals
Marrickville has four houses: Blue, Red, Green and Yellow. These houses not only compete for house points throughout the term but also victory at school sporting carnivals. There are three school carnivals each year. The Swimming Carnival is held in Term 1. Students travel to a local pool and are encouraged to participate in a both official and novelty events. Term 2 includes both the Cross Country and Athletic Carnivals. Results in these Carnivals determine selection for school representative teams and students progress on to the Zone Carnival for further competition.
