This year members of the P&C Garden Committee have been working behind the scenes to improve biodiversity, habitat and shade on the school grounds. A key aspect of this goal has been the procurement of an $18,000 grant to plant native trees. The grant has been developed to support national and community-based commemorative tree-plating events to recognise the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and to honour her life’s achievements. Planting regionally-appropriate species that enhance the tree canopy will also leave a legacy of its own—in the form of trees flourishing across the nation for Australians to enjoy into the future. We thank the P&C for their dedication to making MHS a greener school, and the office of the Hon Anthony Albanese MP for supporting our application.
Due to upcoming works on the school site, our tree-planting event has been postponed to early 2023.
