Photography and Digital Media

Learning Photography and Digital Media gives students the chance to use photography, video and computer graphics to communicate messages and information about the world around them.

Photography, Digital Media gives students the opportunity to expand their skills, confidence and ideas in making photographs, videos and digital images as well as talking and writing about photographers, film makers, video artists and designers. Through a study of this subject students are able to make, interpret and communicate their own images and gain an understanding of how the mass media influences society.

Students use a Visual Diary to record their ideas, opinions, observations and experiments that will lead up to making images. Their study of other photographers, film makers, video artists and designers' work is connected to what they are making in Visual Media. Students will also learn how to study photographs, films, videos and digital images using history and criticism. Excursions to art galleries, exhibitions and places of interest are included as part of this course.

Photography, Digital Media is for those students who are interested in communication and careers such as journalism, photography, film and TV, advertising and computer imaging. Students are encouraged to work both by themselves and as part of a production team.
