Parents, carers and the community

As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. We offer a range of services to support you and your family.

Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C)

Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising. To view Marrickville High School's P&C meeting dates and executive members visit the P&C page.

Interpreting and translations

We will help you communicate with our school. If you’d like an interpreter for a school meeting, let us know and we will arrange one, if available.

If you don’t speak or understand English well and want to contact us, call TIS National on 131 450 and ask for an interpreter in your language. The operator will call the school and get an interpreter to help. This service is free.

For more information, listen in your language.

Visit the department’s translated documents section for important information that’s relevant for your child’s education in many languages.

Sentral Student and Parent Portal

The Sentral Student and Parent Portal (website & app) is used for all communication at Marrickville High School.

The Student and Parent Portal, hosted by 'Sentral' provides both parents and students discreet information about each child's progress in our school and direct communication with school & parent, parent & teacher and student & teacher via a a portal (website) and smart phone app.

  • All students have been granted access to their student portal. They log onto their portal using their DoE portal user name and password.

Parents are granted access to their child's data via a unique 'Access Key' sent to them via email to the preferred family email account. They will receive two access keys in the email, each access key can only be used once (one person register).

It is very important for parents to follow the detailed instructions which can be accessed via the Sentral Student and Parent Portal tab to set up and register their portal before downloading the App onto their phone.

Parents will be able to:

  • Communicate with teachers via the messaging system
  • View students timetable
  • View assessment and homework for each child
  • View school documents and resources
  • View messages on the portal website
  • Receive and view school notifications via the app through a push notification
  • Send messages and absence notifications to the school attendance officer.
  • Approve excursions electronically
  • Receive student reports electronically
